Métis Nation of Ontario

Métis Nation of Ontario

The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) was established in 1993 through the will of Métis people and communities coming together to create a Métis-specific governance structure. The MNO has established a centralized registry of over 20,000 Métis citizens, 31 chartered community councils to represent citizens at the local level and a network of programs and services to meet the socio-economic needs of its citizens and communities.

Impact

The Métis Nation of Ontario Bursary supports a full-time student enrolled any program across the College who demonstrates financial need, self-identifies as Métis, have at least one grandparent who is or was an Aboriginal person, and must not be registered as an Indian under the Indian Act or as an Inuk or an Inuit Registry.
