John W. Race
John Race was a dedicated philanthropist and a passionate supporter of Fanshawe’s Simcoe/Norfolk campus. He and his wife, Hazel, established an entrance award to help open doors to post-secondary education. Later, shortly before his death in 2014, he made a generous gift toward the Simcoe/Norfolk campus renovation project. John received an honorary diploma from Fanshawe and was celebrated as an honorary alumnus.
Impact
The John W. Race Entrance Award is presented to a graduate of the Waterford District High School who is enrolled in the first semester of any program at any Fanshawe College campus, though preference is given to a student attending the Simcoe/Norfolk regional campus.
