In Memory of Pieter Das

Pieter Das was a machinist who learned his trade in Holland before moving to Canada as a young man. He taught at Fanshawe’s St. Thomas/Elgin Campus, but devoted countless late night hours in his basement developing a passion into a profitable and enjoyable business, Precision Tool and Machine Company. Through his business, he built specialized equipment for Fortune 500 companies, including 3M, Northern Telecom and Allied Signal. In 2008, his family and friends established a memorial award in honour of Pieter to encourage students who are committed to becoming a professional machinist.
