In Memory of Kristen O'Halloran

While Kristen O’Halloran’s life ended too soon at the age of 25 after a courageous battle against cancer, her years here were full, and her legacy lives on in the Kristen O’Halloran Memorial Bursary Endowment, presented annually to a nursing student. In her 25 years, Kristen lived her life to the fullest every day. Diagnosed at a young age with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, Kristen spent much of her childhood in hospital.

Kristen wanted to give back and, more than anything, she dreamed of becoming a nurse. And though it took her longer than the average person to be accepted into the program and progress through the challenging courses, she finally realized her goal and received her Fanshawe College Nursing Diploma only a few months before she passed away.

After beating cancer once and living cancer-free for over 10 years, Kristen lost her second battle with the disease and died peacefully on July 7th, 2008.

Impact

The Kristen O’Halloran Memorial Bursary is presented on an annual basis to a student who has completed the first year and entered the second year of the Registered Practical Nursing program. The student must have demonstrated motivation and interest in pursuing a career in practical nursing.
