In Memory of Carole Thorpe

Carole Thorpe was a long-time employee of the Children’s Aid Society of London. A fiercely proud mother and much loved grandmother, she loved learning about all aspects of photography through courses, and enjoyed implementing her new found skills in the many amazing photographs she took.

When she started in photography most of her subject matter was what she loved most; her four children, her husband and her grandchildren; but as her knowledge, skill and comfort with photography developed she also found beauty in simple objects and places.

Carole loved how “a picture speaks a thousand words” and used photography to tell stories and capture special moments. She encouraged others to take pictures and was always happy when others took an interest in photography. After losing her in her 60th year in 2013, her family has found comfort in her amazing photographs and feel her pictures are part of her legacy. Carole would be happy to know she is helping others in their pursuits and love of photography.

Impact

Carole’s family established an endowed bursary in memory of Carole to support students who share her talent and passion. The Carole Thorpe Memorial Bursary supports full-time students demonstrating financial need who have completed at least one semester of Fanshawe’s Photography program.
